Javier Silvestre
Javier Silvestre es catedrático de Historia e Instituciones Económicas en el Departamento de Economía Aplicada de la Universidad de Zaragoza y miembro del IEDIS (Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Empleo, Sociedad Digital y Sostenibilidad). Durante su carrera ha llevado a cabo estancias de investigación en varios centros (London School of Economics, University College Dublin, University of British Columbia, Princeton University, Cambridge University).
Su investigación hasta el momento se ha centrado en cuatro grandes temas: las emigraciones (del pasado y del presente); la evolución de la población; las políticas destinadas a reducir los accidentes de trabajo durante la revolución industrial; y el cambio tecnológico en la minería del carbón, también durante la revolución industrial. Aparte de estos temas, también ha investigado sobre la integración de los mercados del carbón, la Nueva Geografía Económica aplicada a la historia y la historia del trabajo.
Su investigación ha sido publicada en, entre otras, las siguientes revistas: The Annals of Regional Science, Business History Review, Cliometrica, Economic History Review, European Review of Economic History, International Migration Review, Journal of Historical Geography, Journal of International Development, Journal of Regional Science, Labor History, Population, Space and Place, Social History of Medicine, Social Science History, y Technology and Culture. También ha publicado varios capítulos de libros y ha sido el coeditor de dos libros.
